Beer Can Chicken September 27 2011

  • 1 can (12 ounces) beer
  • 1 chicken (3 1/2 to 4 pounds)
  • ½ cup chopped garlic
  • ½ tablespoon of salt
  • ½ tablespoon of crushed black pepper
  • ½ tablespoon of granulated garlic
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Rub the Chicken with olive and chopped garlic and season with spices.  Pour half the can of beer in a small pan, a pan that you can use on the grill.  Stick the half full can of beer in the large cavity of the chick and stand up in the pan.  To add another flavor you can pour Italian dressing over the chicken.  Pre-heat your grill at a medium heat, place the pan with the chicken on the grill, lower your grill’s burners to low, and close the grill.  Check every 15-20 minutes and baste the chicken with the beer and juices in the pan.  Cook an 1 ¼ hrs to 1 ½ hrs.  Let stand for 15 minutes, under a foil tent, before carving.
